Narrabri FC continued its winning start to the 2021 Namoi Soccer League season at Hogan Oval on Saturday where its first and reserve grade sides both scored derby victories against Elevens FC.

Narrabri FC won the first grade fixture 3-1 after its reserve grade team got the job done 1-0 earlier in the day.

Both teams have now earned a maximum 15 points from the opening five rounds in their respective competitions.

The two clubs’ reserve grade sides were locked nil-all at the break and it was not until the 51st minute of the 60-minute match that the game’s only goal was scored as Ben Stride netted his second goal of the season.

In the first grade game, the Elevens led 1-0 at the break after the competition’s leading goal-scorer Bailey Campbell found the back of the net from close range in the 24th minute after running on to a pin-point Cody Shepherdson cross.

Narrabri FC regrouped at the break and had taken the lead by the hour-mark following a Blake Jarrett brace. The striker ran onto a through ball from forward partner Jake Brayshaw and found the bottom left corner with a one-on-one strike to equalise then converted from the spot after winning a penalty to make the score 2-1.

Tom Holland made the score 3-1 with 10 minutes remaining when he ran onto a Cooper Brayshaw cross from the right edge and calmly found the back of the net at the back stick.

The other round five first grade game was won by Moree Services FC which secured its first victory of the season on Saturday when it downed Wee Waa United 5-0 on home soil, while Moree also won the reserve grade fixture 7-0 against Wee Waa.

Narrabri FC will take on Moree in round six at Hogan Oval this Saturday while the Elevens will travel to Wee Waa for their games.
