Bellata Public School travelled to the Narrabri Eisteddfod on June 1-3, to perform in set poetry.
The students had been busily preparing and rehearsing their poems in the weeks prior.
Tuesday, June 1 saw Kindergarten, Year 1 and 2 on the program with their set poems.
Kindergarten’s poem was Whistling by Gordon Winch.
Year 1 students performed Honey and Jumble by Margaret Speter and The Teacher Took My Tennis Ball by Libby Hawthorn was the poem for Year 2.
Year 3 and 4 participated on Wednesday, June 2 with Year 3 preforming My Dog by Emily Lewis, while Year 4 students recited My Hand was in the Cookie Jar by Dave Crawley.
Thursday, June 3 was Year 5’s turn to present The Crocodile by Roald Dahl.
All students performed well and received encouraging feedback from the adjudicator to take on board in preparation for next year’s eisteddfod.
Maggie Cooper received second place for her set poem for Kindergarten with Charlie Eather placing third.
Patrick Lowien received first for his poem while Nina Lui, Max Eather, Lachie Eather and Owen Eather all achieved highly commended.
Bethany Cooper received first place for her Year 3 poem and Audrey Cooper was awarded second place for her Year 5 poem.
Congratulations to all students.
Overall, this year’s Narrabri Eisteddfod was very successful for Bellata and the staff and students should be commended for all their hard work and commitment. Well done.
