Even stud bull Rayleigh Quinella, pictured here, was smiling at the highly successful annual Rayleigh Bull and Female sale on Friday.

Rayleigh Quinella sold for $18,000 to a Coonamble buyer.

“Twenty five out of 26 bulls were sold averaging $10,000 with the top price of $20,000,” said Nutrien’s Auctioneer, Livestock and Property Sales, Bruce Evans.

“Heifers averaged $4153.”

The sale drew buyers from Queensland to the Upper Hunter, New England area and the west.

There were certainly no complaints about the wet weather and the rain stopped in time for the sale.

This was the 12th annual Rayleigh Poll Hereford sale and the first held on the Holcombe family’s Kaputar Road property.

The prices and upbeat atmosphere at the well attended sale reflected the post drought mood of the district.

“Everything’s firing in agriculture now,” commented one buyer at the sale.
