Bastille Day, France’s national day takes place on July 14, and was recently celebrated by local Whiddon residents.
The Robert Young wing residents of the aged care facility dressed up in their finest French outfits and berets on the day.
Whiddon’s Cathy Johnston said it was a great day, complete with a themed menu.
“We try to do it every year, sharing French history and cuisine,” she said.
“This year we had French toast for breakfast and croissants for dinner.”
“There were special pastries for morning and afternoon tea, and for lunch we had crepes which was exciting because we’ve never had them here before.”
“By the end of it we were so full – we can’t figure out how all the beautiful French people stay in such good shape with all these delicious pastries.”
