There was a solid turnout for the Narrabri Show Society’s annual general meeting and its new committee has set its sight on the 2022 event.
The meeting was hosted by the 2020/21 committee, including president Jason Orman, secretary Bec Cope and treasurer Grace Bolton.
Show society members heard of the many successes of the organisation during the previous year.
Mrs Bolton delivered the treasurer’s report, which revealed 2021 to be the Narrabri Show’s most financially successful year to date.
Friday, April 30, was the show’s opening night and it saw the biggest attendance across the three days.
On this day, the horticulture pavilion opened, junior judging and the pet show competition were held, the official show opening and Showgirl announcement took place, and crowds were entertained by the rodeo and live music by Leon Cunningham.
The treasurer’s report also detailed sponsorship information. It was the largest sponsorship figure the show has seen on record.
Mr Orman then delivered the president’s speech, in which he expressed his sincere gratitude to everyone involved.
“A big thank you to everyone for one of our best years yet,” he said.
“I hope we can continue working together to make the 2022 event even better.”
Ms Cope then presented the secretary’s report.
“I only had just under three months to prepare for this year’s show, but I’m so pleased with the way everyone pulled together to put on a great event for Narrabri,” she said.
“There’s been so many rewards along the way, including working with a wonderful team, revamping our website, acknowledging our hardworking volunteers and six new life members – Brian Orman, Bronwyn Clarke, Dawn Armstrong, Irene Tomlinson, Trevor Atkinson and Jason Orman.”
“None of it would be possible without the amazing support of our local community.”
Once the annual reports were delivered, Max Pringle OAM then chaired the election of office bearers for the 2021/22 term.
Jason Orman was elected as president once again, with Ian Orman taking on the role of vice president.
Ms Cope filled the roles of secretary and public officer.
Mrs Bolton will also hold her role as treasurer for another term.
Five other general committee members were voted in, including Brandi Megson, Janine McGowan, Fiona Orman, Kira Orman and Ian Schweitzer.
Trish Lawty was welcomed as the newest life member, thanks to her three decades of dedication to the show auxiliary.
She will officially be honoured at next year’s event.
Show horticulture steward and life member Wendy McNair, along with 2021 senior Showgirl Gemma Ferguson, were nominated as the local group 14 representatives – they will attend district meetings and vote on behalf of the Narrabri Show Society.
The annual general meeting was then closed, followed by a general meeting.
