Wee Waa Golf Club hosted the 2021 Lee Davis Memorial three-person ambrose on Sunday.

The 18-hole event is played annually in memory of the late Lee Davis, an up and coming Wee Waa golfer who was killed in a tragic accident in the late 80s.

Traditionally, the event’s teams each included a male, a female and a junior golfer, however, teams can now be formed with any collection of players due to a lack of junior golfers involved in the sport in recent years.

There were 43 golfers who took to the course on Sunday. They were spread across 14 teams.

The winning team included Jake Packer and Lucas and Adam Hatton who finished the day three-under-par with a score of 59 nett. Runners-up were Dave, Kerry and Kurt Crutcher, while the pro-pin went to Ben Russell and ladies’ nearest to pin was claimed by Natalie Wohling.

Sunday’s Lee Davis Memorial event kick-started an action-packed month of golf in Wee Waa during October.

The club welcomes the return of Thursday afternoon pot of gold golf this week, then on Sunday, it will host a monthly mug event.

The President v Captain four-ball-best-ball teams event will be played on Sunday, October 17, which will be followed by a two-ball aggregate
stableford on Sunday, October 24.

The busy month of golf will then be rounded out with the club’s annual Pre School Melbourne Cup Calcutta event on Sunday, October 31, which will include a three-person ambrose game.
