Tim Duffy expanded his business to Narrabri after having run an optometry practice in neighbouring town, Gunnedah, since 1985.
His success in the industry dates back even further, with the first Vision Splendid branch opening in Coonabarabran in 1984 and the Gunnedah practice commencing operations the following year.
Opening its doors in the local community in 2015, Vision Splendid Narrabri quickly became a valued Maitland Street business.
Mr Duffy saw a need for optometry excellence in Narrabri when the building’s prior owner – another eye specialist – ceased operations.
Since then, the premises has undertaken major renovations and upgrades to become the store we see today.
In addition to Mr Duffy, the optometry team consists of locals Deborah Baxter and Sebastian Egan.
Ms Baxter has been servicing the Narrabri community for over three decades, while Mr Egan joined Vision Splendid in 2016 as a practice partner.
Ms Baxter studied at the Queensland University of Technology, graduating with a Bachelor of Optomery (Honours) – in the years since completing her studies, she’s serviced the Narrabri community as an optometrist.
Mr Egan completed a postgraduate professional doctorate in Optometry at the University of Melbourne, finishing in 2015 and moving out west soon thereafter.
Beyond these eye specialists, Vision Splendid also employs a number of locals in administration and optical dispensing roles.
These include Erin Lennox, Kelsey Cooper, Ros Thorn, Donna Richardson, Amy-Lea Hulbert, Ash Worley and Donna Bower.
Some of the team have been with Vision Splendid for a number of years, while others have joined within the last six months.
Their interests vary from spending time with family and friends, to travel, as well as cooking, and enjoying the great outdoors – whether it be on the farm or in the backyard.
Each team member is unique, but they share a common passion for their work and helping the local community reach their full vision potential as a cohesive team.
“We all support each other 110 per cent and I am so grateful to work alongside the amazing people that I do,” Ms Cooper commented of her team.
“My biggest pleasure in working at Vision Splendid is exploring different glasses and styles, as well as helping people with their selection of frames,” Mrs Thorn said when asked about her favourite part of the job.
The team’s commitment to vision excellence can be seen in their dedication to dispensary studies, and in their friendly approach to customers, both of which are underpinned by a passion for their work.
The Vision Splendid brand is rooted in a fantastic local team, but further establishing them as an industry leader is their keen approach when it comes to adopting cutting-edge technology.
“We have a real passion in providing comprehensive eye care, and to do that, you have to have the right tools,” Mr Duffy explained.
“We are also proud that we can provide equipment and service to our regional patients that is not always available to even metropolitan practices.”
