Local senior soccer club Narrabri FC hosted its annual general meeting for 2021 on Monday evening at the Tourist Hotel.

Outgoing president Steve Lubke thanked all of the players, sponsors, supporters and the 2021 committee for what he described as another great season.

Lubke stepped down as president for the 2022 campaign but will remain a part of the club’s fabric after being elected its vice-president.

Former vice-president Blake Jarrett is the club’s new president, while Rhys Hayne (secretary) and Rose Lubke (treasurer) retained their positions on the executive committee.

There were 10 general committee members elected onto a 14-person committee, including Kelsey Cooper, Kerrie Brayshaw, Danny Laws, Jake Brayshaw, Zaac Brayshaw, Ben Stride, Colby Williams, Cooper Brayshaw, Neil Brayshaw and Tom Holland.

The introduction of a reserve grade competition into the Namoi Soccer League setup for the 2021 season was unanimously agreed to have been a major success by all in attendance at the meeting.

The club plans to field first and reserve grade teams again next year in the 2022 Namoi Soccer League, should the comp adopt the same format it operated under this year.

The club appointed its two coaches for those teams on Monday. Neil Brayshaw will coach the first grade side for a fifth straight season, while Ben Stride will coach the club’s reserve grade team for the first time.

Brayshaw, who coached his 60th Namoi Soccer League first grade game in the final round of the 2021 season, has overseen 52 wins, three draws and just five losses since the start of the 2017 campaign.

He told The Courier that he could wait for 2022, especially after the 2021 season was cut short just after his side had booked a home grand final by winning a fifth consecutive minor premiership.

Narrabri FC’s pre-season training will get underway in January, and the club intends to enter the Johnson Cup pre-season tournament in Tamworth again following its debut appearance earlier this year.
