The late Beryl Heath, who passed away aged 94 on Friday, January 14, will be remembered for her many decades of service and engagement within the Narrabri community.

Mrs Heath, who was born in Narrabri, was held in great affection by the Narrabri community across many generations.

In addition to her extensive community work, Mrs Heath was devoted to her family, including her late husband Bill Heath OAM who died aged 96 in April 2021.

While a staunch supporter of her husband’s extensive community work and civic duties, including his tenure as mayor of Narrabri Municipal Council from 1968 to 1971, Mrs Heath was a stalwart of the community in her own right.

She held several positions within local organisations including treasurer of the P&C school canteen at Narrabri Public School, Guide leader, patron and secretary of the Narrabri Cubs and Scouts Group, inaugural president of the Narrabri Art and Crafts Society, president of the Hospital Auxiliary and was also involved in the Red Cross and formed the Pink Ladies Group.

Mrs Heath volunteered with Meals on Wheels and was a member of Inner Wheel for 50 years.

Last year she was honoured with life membership of the Narrabri Hospital Auxiliary, a recognition of her 60 years’ voluntary service.

Her extensive service and dedication to the Narrabri community were honoured last year when Mrs Heath was announced as the 2021 Narrabri Shire Senior of the Year.

Mrs Heath (nee Ryan) married Mr Heath on March 7, 1949.

In almost seven decades of marriage, Mrs Heath was proudly Mr Heath’s long-term support, advisor, business partner and mentor throughout their journey in life together.

The late Mrs Heath is survived by her children Neurelle, Martin and Robert and their families.
