In an ever changing world it now seems there is another profound societal shift – a move away from drinking alcohol for young people. According to a group called the Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education 22 per cent of people in their 20s do not drink alcohol, up from 8.9 per cent in 2001. They are still socialising but drinking the growing range of non-alcoholic beers and mixes. One of the proponents cited a ‘five day hangover from hell’ as the reason she gave up the booze some years ago.
