A website which collects the list from births recorded on the Social Security Administration in the US has published some of the obscure names given to newborns as early as the 1800s. Among the names were: Harm, Man, Spicy, Wealthy, Almond, Birdella, Bluford, Branch, Bush, Cannie, Cappie, Cinnamon, Doll, Dijon, Ermine, Ewart, Foch, Friend, Fronnie, Gorge, Governor and Girtha.
