Funding boost for new equipment at 2Max FM

Narrabri Shire Community Radio Incorporated (2Max FM) will be able to purchase new equipment after receiving a $3515 grant in the latest round of the federal government’s Volunteer Grants program.

Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton visited the Barwan Street studios on Friday to congratulate the volunteers on their successful grant and for being named Narrabri Shire’s Community Group of the Year at the 2022 Australia Day awards.

“2Max FM is a wonderful community asset that has been keeping the Narrabri Shire informed and entertained for the past two decades,” Mr Coulton said.

“This wouldn’t be possible without a dedicated volunteer base of announcers.

“Volunteers play a vital role in shaping this electorate; they give countless hours of their time for the betterment of their communities, and this funding will enable the 2Max FM announcers to continue their great work by utilising the latest equipment.”

Station manager Cassie Boyd said the new equipment will enhance the on-air experience for the station’s 30 volunteers.

“It’s important that we acknowledge the hard work and dedication our volunteers provide to the community,” Ms Boyd said.

“Our volunteers turn up for their shifts on time every time, rain, hail, shine, flood or COVID.

“To be able to acknowledge their effort is just one way we can say thank you.”

The 2021 Volunteer Grants provide organisations with grants of $1000 to $5000 to help purchase equipment, training and background screening checks for their volunteers.

Volunteers are integral to many Australian organisations, with more than 8.7 million volunteers across the country giving their time freely to support their communities.
