Gunnedah council is an active and innovative body. Ahead of Australia Day this year the council hosted a big celebration dinner which saw a packed town hall hear the citizens and groups of the year award winners announced, followed by a day of Australia Day activities. Now the council is again staging the ‘Gunnybalds’ – their take on the Archibald art prize. Local artists, junior and senior, beginners or experienced, will be invited to paint or draw a member of the Gunnedah community which will later be displayed at an exhibition.
