The NSW government has warned people that COVID cases could more than double in the next six weeks following the spread of a new mutation of the virus. A new Omicron sub-variant, referred to as BA.2, has seen cases soar in European countries and it is expected to do the same in NSW and Australia. The World Health Organisation says studies show it appears the variant is more transmissible than BA.1, however, there is no real evidence that it is more serious.
