Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club’s 2022 Club Singles campaign recently got underway at Narrabri Sporties’ John McNamara Owen Campey Green with three first round matches played on Thursday and Saturday.

On Thursday, Kay Carolan downed Lisa Pillar 25-23 and Mary Wheeler defeated Marie Redman 25-14, and then on Saturday, Debbie Gleeson outscored Heather Caton 26-13.

Carolan produced an impressive comeback victory in her first Singles match on Thursday.

Pillar flew out to a nine shots to one lead after five ends and then led 20 shots to nine at the completion of the 20th end. She scored a two and a one on the 23rd and 24th ends, respectively, and required just two more points to win at that stage.

However, Carolan fired back with 14 unanswered shots on the next six ends to win the game 25 shots to 23 after 30 ends.

In the other Thursday game, Wheeler got off to a great start and led 10 shots to two after eight ends and went on to win the game 25-14.

Social bowls was also played at the Narrabri Sporties on Saturday, with 16 bowlers enjoying a game of Russian Roulette bowls.

The winner for the morning was Graham Rose with three wins and 17 ends.

Placing second was Tony Redman with three wins and 15 ends, and third was David Briggs with three wins and 13 ends.
