Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club’s four 2022 campaign Club Singles semi-finalists have been decided ahead of the two matches that will be played this Saturday.

Cindy Neil will challenge Sue Soloman, while Cecile will meet Debbie Gleeson.

On Thursday, April 21, Cecile beat Mary Wheeler 25-14 after 25 ends of play, Solomon defeated Helen Woodward 26-19 across 26 ends, and Neil beat Kay Carolan 25-13 after 23 ends.

On Saturday, April 23, Gleeson beat defending champ Lorraine Scott 25-15 in 24 ends.

Wheeler got off to a good start against Cecile on Thursday and was leading 10-8 after eight ends. Cecile then won the next six ends to take a 17-10 lead. Cecile went on to win the game 25-14 after 25 ends.

Solomon started well against Woodward and was leading 13-6 after 12 ends. Woodward then won six of the next eight ends to even the score at 17-all. On the 22nd end, Solomon scored with all her four bowls and took the score to 22-17 in her favour. She then went on to win 26-19 across 26 ends.

Carolan got away to a positive early start against Neil and led 5-3 after five ends. Neil then scored three shots on the sixth end to take a 6-5 lead and she remained in front for the rest of the game to win 25-13 after 23 ends of play.

Gleeson was too good for Scott on Saturday. Gleeson started well and led 13 nil after six ends and then led 18-2 on end 11. Scott fought back and won the next six ends to make the score 18-12. Gleeson then scored seven shots to Scott’s three across the next seven ends to win the game 25-15 on the 24th end.

Social bowls was enjoyed by 16 players on Saturday morning. The format was Russian Roulette.

The winner for the morning was Lyn Wedesweiler, who was the only player to have three wins.

Marie Redman was second with two wins and a draw.

David Briggs was third with two wins and one loss, but winning nine ends and narrowly defeating Tony Redman, Di Chessells, Bill Rosewarn, Joyce Briggs and Ian Macmillan who had two wins and one loss, but won less ends.

Social bowls will be played this Saturday morning and barefoot bowls is still being played on Thursday nights.
