Carol Demamiel is Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club’s Five-years-and-under Singles champion for the 2022 season after defeating Janice Foxe in a close final at Narrabri Bowling Club’s John McNamara Owen Campey Green on Thursday.

The two bowlers both claimed 16 ends each during the entertaining match, which lasted 32 ends.

The score after 26 ends was 19-16 to Demamiel, who then scored six shots to four across the next six ends to win the match 25-20.

The first round of Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club’s 2022 Veteran Singles season also began on Thursday.

Marie Redman beat Trish Allison 25-16, Helen Woodward downed Heather Caton 25-16, and Lyn Tuckey received a forfeit from Mary Wheeler.

There were two more first-round games in the Veteran Singles comp contested on Saturday.

Ronnie Dewar outscored Rhonda Fitzgerald 25-5, and Kay Carolan beat Carol Demamiel 25-21.

The third scheduled match did not go ahead after Jan Etheridge received a forfeit from Carolynne Tomlinson.

Woodward and Janet Coleman played their quarter-final game on Saturday. Woodward prevailed 25-13 to advance to the semi-final round.

Ladies’ social bowls was also played on Thursday.

Lesley Anderson, Janet Coleman and Kay Carolan downed Rhonda Fitzgerald, Yvonne Hardman and Cecile 16-15.

Di Chessells played swinging lead in the other match and with Carolynne Tomlinson, Gloria Campey and Lyn Tuckey defeated Irene Tomlinson, Berice Eather and Eva Sadler 16-14.

Quarter-final matches of Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club’s Veteran Singles competition to be played on Thursday, June 2, are as follows:
Lyn Tuckey v Kay Carolan (marker – Carol Demamiel); Ronnie Dewar v Di Chessells (marker – Rhonda Fitzgerald).

Marie Redman has received a forfeit from Jan Etheridge and joins Helen Woodward in the semi-final stage.
