Narrabri Clay Target Club hosted its highly-anticipated 2022 King of Kaputar shoot across the weekend, which the club’s committee hailed as an amazing success.

After it was run as a one-day event in 2020 and was cancelled altogether last year as community sport in NSW was affected by COVID-19, organisers were thrilled that the two-day format was able to return this year.

Shooters were also pleased as 110 competitors took part, which set the new record attendance at a King of Kaputar shoot in Narrabri.

This year’s event incorporated the annual Western Zone carnival as well as a NSW state title among the seven events that were contested across the weekend.

Three events were held throughout the day on Saturday. They were the Northern Inland Credit Union 45-Target Medley off 18 metres (event one), Kelpie Crop Protection 25-Target Single Barrel (event two), and Nutrien Ag Narrabri 50-Target Double Barrel (event three).

The fourth event was then held on Saturday night, which was the B & W Rural – NSW Clay Target Association Night 50-Target Single Barrel Continental Championship.

The final three events were hosted on Sunday, including the Ezy Frame Sheds 25-Target Point score off 15 metres (event five), the John Harris and Watson Automotive 50-Target Handicap (event six) and the WTC Earthmoving 15 Pair Double Rise off 15 metres.

Cobar shooter Bryan Manns was crowned the 2022 King of Kaputar as he took out the top honours with a score of 295/305 across all events (not including the state championship).

The event’s high gun winners are as follows:
