A property at the corner of Cooma Road and Fraser Street was destroyed in an extensive fire in the early hours of Friday morning.

Fire and Rescue crews responded to reports of the blaze at 3.56am.

All appliances were deployed to the scene, and the fire took an estimated five to six hours to bring under control.

The building, previously a home that had been converted into units, was unoccupied at the time of the fire. The fire, spread across the two-storey building, posed an issue for crews due to structural integrity problems.

Fire and Rescue crews ensured protection of a neighbouring house by designating a hose to keep the property cool from the radiant heat emanating from the affected site.

Narrabri firefighters were assisted by Boggabri Fire and Rescue and were supported on the scene by NSW Police and NSW Ambulance.

Drone technology used by the local Fire and Rescue station was utilised on scene to show the hotspots of Friday morning’s blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
