Narrabri Bowling Club’s pennant side played at home for the second time this season on Saturday and scored its first win of the campaign in a round three clash against Inverell Sporties.

It was a convincing one too as the Narrabri men prevailed 61 shots to 48 on the overall scoreboard and also claimed two of the three rinks.

One Narrabri team included Bill Rosewarn, Graham Rose, Scott Dewar and Kevin Baguley, who defeated the Inverell Sporties team of Gary Baxter, David Alexander, Clayton Rogers and Brendan Baker 24-13.

The visitors prevailed on rink two as Coilin Paton, David Morgan, Dennis Williams and Scott Hamilton downed Narrabri’s team of Ian Macmillan, Laurie Gilbert, Len Ryan and Norm Walford 19-15.

Narrabri’s other team was made up of Tony Redman, Steve Daskey, Dave Dewar and Trinity Kelly, who got the job done on their rink as they knocked off Kenneth Montague, Ashley Miller, Jeremy Budda-Deen and Scott Dodd 22-16.

The Narrabri men’s first victory of the season saw them close the gap on two of the three teams ahead of them on their sectional ladder.

Narrabri is still fourth on that ladder but is now on 9.5 points after claiming nine points to Inverell Sporties’ one on Saturday.

The Narrabri men are now just one-and-a-half points behind Inverell and nine points behind the second-placed side Gunnedah.

However, the top-ranked Lightning Ridge moved one more point ahead of Narrabri after it claimed all 10 points on offer in a home victory against Gunnedah.

The Lightning Ridge men won all three rinks in that contest and were victorious 91 shots to 45.

The fourth round will be contested this Saturday when Narrabri travels to the Gunnedah Services and Bowling Club to challenge Gunnedah.
