The 2022 Central North Rugby Union season can be ticked off as another successful one in the history books of Narrabri Rugby Club.
The Blue Boars were crowned first grade premiers for the first time since 2015, and the club’s women’s side was brilliant from start to finish as it made the grand final for the first time since its debut season in 2018.
Narrabri’s second grade side placed fifth on the ladder and missed out on a finals spot by just one point.
Narrabri Rugby Club celebrated its 2022 success in style on Friday night when it held its awards presentation night at the Dangar Park clubhouse.
It was the first time at that venue since 2019, after COVID-19 wiped out the entire 2020 season, and then the club hosted the 2021 event at the Tourist Hotel in the beer garden to be in an outdoor setting as required by the COVID-19 rules that were in place at the time.
This year’s awards presentation was MCed by club captain Toby Keys and women’s team player Carly Baxter.
Narrabri Rugby Club president Mick Coffey told The Courier that the duo did a brilliant job of hosting the event and labelled it a great success.
Coffey said there were roughly 100 people in attendance and added that everyone was delighted to be back at the clubhouse. He commended the hard work of club director Alex Reed, who he said ensured that the clubhouse looked brilliant on the night and that the night ran smoothly.
Eight team awards were won at the event, which were as follows:
