Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service’s Narrabri Volunteer Support Group held a charity golf day at Narrabri Golf Club on Sunday.

The popular four-person ambrose was contested by 22 teams totalling 88 players this year as it made a long-awaited return after being cancelled in 2021 and 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service’s New England North West volunteers coordinator Kim Newling told The Courier that the event was an important one that raised crucial funds for an essential service.

She also applauded the efforts of the local volunteer support group, which she said that without, fundraising events like the popular golf day would not go ahead.

The winning team included Shane, Megan and James Hartog-Smith and Pat Legg, who finished with a score of 54 points.

Placing second were Graeme Trew, Nicole Cooper, Scott Lamb and Will Brooks with 55.62 points, and in third place were Dianne and Steve Parish and Rebecca and Geoff Artis with 57.25 points.

Ranking fourth were Will Coldham, Adam Hatton, David McCathie and Scott Boyle with 57.75 points, and in fifth were James and Kate Pitman, Les Richardson and Luke Meppem with a score of 58.75 points.

The event’s long drive prizes were claimed by Geoff Artis in men’s A-grade, Pat Legg in men’s B-grade, Luke Stoltenberg in men’s C-grade, and Louise Penberthy in ladies’ A-grade.
