Cindy Neil and Heather Caton win the president pairs final

Cindy Neil and Heather Caton are the Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club’s president pairs champions for 2022.

Neil and Caton had to give a seven-shot start to Sue Solomon and Janice Foxe in Saturday morning’s final at the Narrabri Bowling Club, and they were able to come from behind and win the 18-end match 18 shots to 15.

Solomon and Foxe made the most of their gifted head start to establish a commanding nine shots to nothing lead after five ends of play.

However, once Neil and Caton reached the seven shots, the pressure was off, and they won the next nine straight ends to lead 17-9 on the 14th end.

Solomon and Foxe rallied late as they scored six shots to one over the last four ends.

However, it was not enough, as Neil and Caton claimed a three-shot win.

Ladies’ social bowls was played at Narrabri Bowling Club last Thursday.

Ronnie Dewar and Lyn Tuckey beat Dawn Armstrong and Cecile 25-13, Yvonne Hardman and Kay Carolan outscored Rhonda Fitzgerald and Berice Eather 22-9, Jan Etheridge and Helen Woodward downed Janice Foxe and Marie Redman 16-13, and Mary Wheeler and Carol Demamiel defeated Glennis Godden and Di Chessells 21-13.

Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club’s 2022 patrons trophy series will get underway on Wednesday night.

Cards will be called at 5.45pm and games will start at 6pm.

The patrons trophy is the last of the ladies’ competitions for 2022.

There will be no organised bowls on Thursday mornings. However, anyone wishing to have a game is more than welcome to do so.

Meanwhile, several Narrabri lady bowlers will travel to compete at the representative level this month.

Lorraine Scott and Debbie Gleeson will travel to Armidale this week to contest the open pairs regional playoffs, and Helen Woodward and Marie Redman will also travel to Armidale to take part in the senior pairs regional playoffs this week.

Narrabri’s two pennant teams will then travel to play in the state finals from Friday, November 18, to Sunday, November 20.

The division three team will play at the Bomaderry Bowling Club, and the division four team will compete at the Valentine Bowling Club.
