Funny thing history…: December 7 was Pearl Harbour Day, the anniversary of the Japanese attack on the US naval base in Hawaii, which launched America into the Second World War. As President Roosevelt said in his December 8, 1941 speech, “a date which will live in infamy” – the date is relegated to history for most, but now Japan is one of Australia and the US’s key allies.
