Narrabri golfers Dennis Richardson, Gary Cuell, Graeme Trew and Peter Ward won themselves a holiday on Sunday as a result of their victory at Narrabri Golf Club’s Christmas four-person ambrose.

The local club’s highly-anticipated event attracted 108 golfers, who were split across 27 teams of four.

The winning team of Richardson, Cuell, Trew and Ward prevailed with a net score of 56.250.

The top prize was a highly sought-after one, which included three nights’ accommodation at the Mantra Aqua Apartments in Nelson Bay as well as two rounds of golf at the Nelson Bay Golf Course and the Horizons Golf Resort, and also fuel vouchers.

The total value of the top prize was $2000.

The winners narrowly edged out the second and third-placed teams, which both finished on 56.500.

The second-placed team was made up of golfers from Walgett and Central Coast, including Geoff Williams, Ben Power and Roy and Ngalan Ah-see, and the third-placed team was full of familiar faces as it included Narrabri’s Jim Cable, Adam Taylor and Mark and Fiona Campbell.

The teams ranked fourth and fifth also included Narrabri players.

In fourth place, with a score of 57.250, were Nathan Dicks, Kane Voysey, Glenn Rae and Jeff Richards, and in fifth, with a score of 57.625, were Nigel and Bill Guest, Rod Rees and Graham Cameron.

There were nearest to pin and long drive prizes up for grabs on the day as well.

The men’s nearest to pin winners were Drew Penberthy on the fifth, Josh Seymour on the eighth, Luke Flood on the 12th, and Mark Fielder on the 16th.

Ladies nearest to pin winners were Sandra Nott on the fifth and Peggy Penberthy on the 12th.

The men’s long drive winners were David Avery in A-grade, Beau Ewers in B-grade and Brock Smith in C-grade.

The ladies’ long drive winners were Myra Joseph in B-grade and Tracy Warren in C-grade.
