A passion for building relationships with clients and an enjoyment of meeting new people is the joy of a career in real estate for Olivia Knox.

The Hennessy Real Estate property manager who is based in the business’ Maitland Street office enjoys that no two days are the same in the role.

“I’ve always had a keen interest in real estate,” she said. “Every day is different. You never know what is going to happen at the end of the phone.”

Olivia started her career at Narrabri Real Estate, owned by Stuart Southwell, in August 2020.

When the business was acquired by Ben Hennessy, and became Hennessy Real Estate, she joined the growing Hennessy business.

Olivia made the move to Narrabri from Kempsey to join her partner Dylan Verrier here in Narrabri.

She quickly made the most of the opportunity to join a real estate business. At Hennessy Real Estate, she was initially responsible for leasing and inspections of rental properties.

Now the property manager at Hennessy Real Estate, Narrabri, she and the team are responsible for managing an extensive list of 160 rental properties.

Beyond property management, Olivia hopes to establish a career in real estate sales. She has completed her certificate of registration and is working towards obtaining her real estate licence.

“It’s very different to property management,” she said of working in sales.

Reflecting on her time in Narrabri, she said she was glad she made the move in 2020.

“I really enjoy living in Narrabri. It’s a wonderful community,” she said.

“I’ve made some great friends here.”

Real estate reflections

Olivia explained the challenges experienced as a result of increased demand for rental properties. In November 2022, Hennessy Real Estate had a vacancy rate between 0 and 0.5 per cent.

Ten new properties have also come on the books. But rising demand for rental properties sees a wait list of people hoping to find a new home.

“We are getting about 20 applications for each property,” Olivia said. “The rental market in Narrabri is very strong.”
