The late Jim Brown, who passed away aged 76 on Sunday, February 5 will be remembered as a businessman who had the community at heart.

Mr Brown was respected throughout Narrabri in both business and service organisations.

He was a dedicated family man, and his business and community pursuits were always well-supported by his late wife Beth who sadly passed away in April last year.

Mr Brown was held in high esteem at Lodge Namoi where he was a member for almost 50 years.

A Right Worshipful Brother, Mr Brown was a past lodge master.

In addition to his extensive dedication as a Freemason, he was a member of the local Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service volunteer support group committee, the Deep Creek RFS brigade and the Namoi Valley Antique Vehicle Club.

His expertise as a mechanic will also be remembered by many.

After working with Amos Smith and Sons for many years, Mr and Mrs Brown, together with business partners, established their own mechanic workshop in the 1980s.

While retirement and a move into town eventually came, Mr Brown took great pride in his continued community involvements as well as watching his family grow with the arrival of grandchildren.

Mr Brown cherished his time with his three grand-daughters – a great source of pride in his life – Lauren, Andrea and Jasmine and celebrated their achievements.

Mr Brown is survived by his son James and daughter Annette and their families.
