I can’t believe the censors are at it again!

First Noddy, then Biggles – now Roald Dahl’s books.

The authors wrote those books for children to enjoy, which they always have, not for someone else to come along years later and change their wording.

That is what the author meant and wrote for his young readers – it is no longer the original book that was written and published in good faith and with all good intentions, so who then becomes the author?

Fortunately, children don’t see what the minority in this crazy world sees – they read for enjoyment, education, whatever, not to criticise the so-called offensive wording.

How can changing the word ‘fat’ to ‘enormous’ be beneficial to anyone – I know which I’d rather be called!

These words are still in the dictionary, so will they have to be taken out of the English language altogether so nobody will be offended?

If it offends, don’t read it to your children or let them read it. Children see and read a lot worse than this online and on TV.

Where is this nonsense going to stop?

Leave books alone and let everyone enjoy his/her choices.

I wonder what the families of Enid Blyton, Roald Dahl and Captain WE Johns think of this ridiculous censorship of their wonderful books?
