Narrabri Basketball Association’s first junior basketball program of the 2023 season has been running for three weeks now at the Bev Burrows Courts.

There have been plenty of skills on show from the future stars and an abundance of fun is being had.

Junior basketball has been moved to Tuesday nights this year and is being played before the mixed competition senior matches.

The senior men’s competition is still running on Wednesdays.

The junior players are broken up into three separate age groups – minis, which is 5-8-years, then 9-12-years and 12-15 years.

Teenagers can start playing senior basketball from 16-years-old.

Narrabri Basketball Association’s Trish Lawty said that there would not be a cutoff for registrations, and that junior players could sign up at any stage of the season.

The association’s registrations last an entire 12 months, rather than just covering a single season like in other sports.

She encouraged any keen players to come along and have a go.

Lawty also encouraged any keen parents, guardians and senior players who are able to help out to do so to help the next generation of basketball players learn the game.
