Narrabri Basketball Association’s new season started in February and is now a month old, with round five to be played from tonight.

Once again in 2023, there will be two seasons held during the year.

The first runs from February through to late May, and the second runs from August through to November.

The mixed competition matches are played on Tuesdays after the junior basketball has wrapped up, and the men’s matches are then played each Wednesday.

The first round of the mixed comp was scheduled for February 14, but those games were cancelled due to wet weather.

The men’s games went ahead the following evening as ATC Antennas downed Kareem Dream Team 46-29 and Magic scored a narrow 29-25 win against Casting Couch.

The mixed competition teams then got underway in round two a week later on Tuesday, February 21.

Namoi defeated Lakers 44-31 and Mouse Busters outscored Ballers 33-26.

The second round of the men’s comp the following evening saw the Kareem Dream Team bounce back from its round one loss and win 33-21 against Casting Couch, while Magic scored a win by forfeit as ATC Antennas could not field a team.

In round three of the mixed comp on the final day of summer, Lakers bounced back from their round two loss when they scored a 40-17 victory over Mouse Busters, while the Namoi side scored its second straight win when it downed Ballers 25-13.

In the third round of the men’s comp on the first day of autumn, Magic kept its winning streak alive when it beat Kareem Dream Team 66-35 to score its third straight victory to start the season on fire.

The other match saw ATC Antennas win by forfeit against Casting Couch.

The fourth round of the mixed comp was played last Tuesday, when Mouse Busters scored their second win of the campaign as they beat Namoi 28-22.
The defeat was Namoi’s first of the 2023 season.

The other game saw Ballers snap a two-game losing streak when they had a 28-all draw against Lakers.

Lakers went into half-time leading by a point in that game, but Ballers outscored Lakers 16-15 in the second stanza as the match ended as a tie.

Going into this evening’s round five matches, Namoi and Mouse Busters are on top of the table following two wins and a loss.

Lakers are close behind following a win, a draw and a loss, and Ballers are fourth after two losses and a draw.

In the fourth round of the men’s competition last Wednesday, Magic stretched its winning streak to four games and remained in outright first position after a 31-14 victory against Casting Couch.

The other match was won by ATC Antennas, which outscored Kareem Dream Team 37-18.
