The colourful works of Gamilaroi/Wongkumara artist Vivianne Smith Jnr are among a spectacular exhibition being showcased at Wee Waa Community Arts and Cultural Centre.

The exhibition – Barran Barra-y Fly Boomerang – was unveiled to the public with a celebration and boasts a range of works.

Vivianne has been creating boomerang art her entire life, mostly for family.

She recently embraced the opportunity to showcase her talents to the wider public and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

“I never thought much of it. I didn’t think it was that great,” she said. “I’ve had such amazing feedback.”

In addition to her boomerang art, Vivianne has other works on display in Wee Waa as well as at The Crossing Theatre in Narrabri.

She has developed her own artistic style and draws inspiration from her family.

At the Wee Waa exhibition, local and interstate artworks and sculptures have been created for the display which marks the centre’s first anniversary.

The exhibition is also being held in conjunction with the shire’s annual CREATE Festival.

Barran Barra-y Fly Boomerang will be on display until early April, during the centre’s opening hours.
