The Stars of Narrabri Dance for Cancer will return to The Crossing Theatre stage this year to raise funds and awareness for Cancer Council NSW.

The dance spectacular returns to Narrabri in June and the 10 contestants have hit the ground running with their fundraising efforts.

The contestants this year are Kylie Browne, Brett Dickinson, Ben Duncan, Stacey Dunn, Fiona Redfern, Mitch Creighton, Terrence Duncan, Karen Kirkby, Nikki Shields and Louise Tout.

Of the ten dancers, three will perform as a trio – Stacey Dunn, Nikki Shields and Louise Tout.

Other dancers will perform with either partners of back-up dancers.

A launch night was held at the Narrabri RSL last Wednesday to officially start the firing pistol for this year’s event.

Stars are encouraged to raise at least $3000 each.

Some have already set their sights on higher goals.

Overall, Cancer Council NSW aims to raise at least $30,000 from this year’s dance night.

Dancers raised more than $42,000 when the event was last held in 2021.

Cancer Council NSW community fundraising coordinator Sara Mayo-McCowen, based in Tamworth, said the organisation was excited to bring Stars back to Narrabri.

“We’re back and excited to see the support from the Narrabri community,” she said.

“There is a great vibe around this year’s dance.

She said Narrabri had a track record of rallying around Cancer Council causes.

“Our Stars have already raised $6000,” she said.

All money raised goes towards supporting Cancer Council services in the Tamworth region, including Inala House in Tamworth, Home Help and the 13 11 20 support line.

“It’s about supporting our regions,” Sarah said of the Stars Dance event fundraising campaigns across NSW.

The dance night itself will follow a similar format to previous years, with a two-course dinner and performances at The Crossing Theatre.

Hundreds of people are expected to pack the auditorium for the Stars of Narrabri Dance for Cancer on Saturday, June 24.
