It doesn’t get much better than a camp oven dinner under a sparkling big bush sky, and that’s exactly what’s on offer at the Cotton Capital Country Music Muster in Wee Waa on Saturday, May 13.

And the best part is, the Wee Waa Lions Club will do all the hard work and cook it for you.

So, grab your friends and family from near and far. However, you do need to get in quick and buy your dinner tickets early, so the chefs can cater for you.

The 2023 Cotton Capital Country Music Muster will kick off on Friday, May 12 at the Wee Waa showground with an action-packed schedule running until Sunday, May 14.

The Muster committee is bringing some serious star power to Wee Waa, with singer-songwriter Travis Collins set to hit the stage.

“After three years of postponing due to COVID and flooding, the show is going ahead,” said one of the Muster committee organisers Kay Gray.

“This year, we have incorporated walk-up sessions, which are very popular with the travelling festival crowd.

“The walk-up sessions will be held on Friday evening May 12 and Sunday morning May 14 and are free to attend.

“It’s also Mother’s Day, so come along for a breakfast concert.”

“The main concert is on Saturday, May 13 in the impressive new pavilion at the showground.

“Gates open at 11am and the music starts at midday.

“Camp oven dinner by the Wee Waa Lions Club will be available, please buy dinner tickets prior, along with pizza, barbecue, ice cream and coffee.

“A bar will be open from midday to 11.30pm.”

Attendees are encouraged to bring a comfy chair along to the pavilion, so they can sit back and relax while listening to some terrific tunes and soulful sounds.

“Although it’s pitched as a country music festival, there really is music for everyone.

“We have been very lucky in securing Travis Collins as the headline act.

“Travis hails from the Cessnock area and when we originally booked him four years ago, he was the reigning male artist of the year at the Golden Guitar Awards.

“He has since released new music and has performed on the biggest stages including CMC Rocks.”

The stellar line-up includes muster favourites Smokie Pete Dawson, Amanda Faulkner, Errol Gray and Amber Goldsmith.

“We are also lucky to have Tom Maxwell, Rodney Vincent and Greg Bain, some of Australia’s top balladeers.”

Despite the challenges of COVID-19 and the floods, the Muster committee has remained dedicated to staging the event which will hopefully bring a boost to the town as caravaners from across the country roll into the Cotton Capital for a weekend of fun and entertainment.

Locals are being encouraged to support the community-run event and come along too.

After previous events, the Muster committee has donated funds to the Raise Foundation’s Mental Health program at the Wee Waa High School and to a local RFS Brigade.
