Glennis Godden is Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club’s under-5-years comp champion for the 2023 season after defeating Janice Foxe in the decider at the Narrabri Bowling Club last week on Thursday.

Godden won the match 25-10 across 24 ends.

The eventual champion got off to a great start and led 7-nil after five ends, but Foxe rallied as she won three of the next five ends, scoring a one each time.

However, Godden then created an unassailable lead as she claimed five ends in a row to lead 20-3 before she eventually won the match 25-10.

That meeting was the duo’s second in the competition in as many years after they went head-to-head in 2022 in a semi-final clash.

Foxe won that game 26-17 after 22 ends of play to advance to the decider in her first year playing the sport, but she lost the final 25-20 against Carol Demamiel.

Local bowls fans will be watching eagerly in 2024 to see if Foxe can make it through to a third consecutive final.

Meanwhile, ladies’ social bowls was also contested on Thursday, May 4.

Doug Mackereth, Trish Allison and Di Chessells beat Bruce Tomlinson, Rhonda Fitzgerald and Kay Carolan 22-12; Colin Armstrong, Val Falkiner and Lyn Wedesweiler downed Carolynne Tomlinson, Janet Coleman and Berice Eather 20-9; and Ronnie Dewar and Helen Woodward defeated Carol Demamiel and Lyn Tuckey 28-7.

The Narrabri Bowling Club’s men’s 2022 season triples final was finally played on Thursday night.

Ron Ryan, David Field and Cameron Yates were crowned champions after beating Bill Rosewarn, Col Armstrong and Len Ryan 21-17.
