Q&A with Narrabri Farm Centre proprietor Steffi Lilliebridge:
Why do you love doing what you do and what are you most proud of?
I love owning our own business in a small country town like Narrabri. We purchased Narrabri Farm Centre to grow it for our family.
Family means everything to us and that’s what we base our business on.
How long have you owned your business and why did you choose Narrabri?
I am a Narrabri local and purchased Narrabri Farm Centre in February 2021. We have just clicked over two years.
I chose Narrabri Farm Centre as my mum always said to me how good Narrabri Farm Centre would be to own and to support our local town.
Who are the women that have inspired you in your working life or daily life?
The one and only inspiration in my life was my mum.
She would be so proud of where I am in my life, both personally and professionally. Mum had a strong family and work ethic.
Advice for other women looking to start their own small business?
Don’t be afraid, even in a male dominated industry, dig in deep and give it a go. But you’ve got to want to do it. You need to want to be successful and succeed.
And I won’t lie, it’s stressful and there are hard times. Have positive people around you and dig in deep. There are also very rewarding good times as well.
What do you want women to know about your business?
We are a family run business and even being a mum running a successful business is hard but worth it. We have something for everyone in our store.
What is the best business advice you have been given?
Work hard, don’t be scared to give something a go.
Don’t be scared to change.
It is hard work running a business in a small town but so worth it in the long run.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years time I see myself running a very successful farming supplies business business in Narrabri.
Spending time with my family and friends, and going on holidays to the beach.
