Updates on two major energy projects will be presented to Narrabri Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday night.
Speakers from Whitehaven Coal and Santos will give presentations on the current progress on the Vickery mine expansion and the proposed Santos gas pipeline.
The meeting will be held at Narrabri RSL Club starting at 6pm on Tuesday, June 13.
“These topics are of local importance to our community” said Chamber president Russell Stewart.
“If you really want to know, from the horses mouth, about the status of these projects, please come along.
“And everyone is welcome to attend to learn about them first hand.”
The Santos Narrabri Gas Project is proceeding through its assessment phase, underwritten by endorsement from state and federal governments.
The transport of gas from the Pilliga production site will be via a pipeline which is now in the planning stages.
Santos anticipates that the Pilliga gas will be able to provide half the state’s gas requirements.
The Whitehaven Vickery mine expansion on the boundary of Narrabri and Gunnedah Shires will see a significant increase in output, meeting growing demand.
The mine will be a major employer.
“While the Tuesday meeting is a regular Chamber event, having the two speakers will provide an opportunity for anyone interested in these projects to come along and be part of the audience” said Mr Stewart.
“You don’t need to be a member of the chamber to come along and hear about these projects which will be part of our future.”
