Co-proprietor of The Courier, Wanda Dunnet, has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia OAM, ‘For service to the print media industry.’

“I am thrilled to be awarded an OAM” said Mrs Dunnet. “This is wonderful recognition of the importance of the role newspapers play in regional and rural communities.

Mrs Dunnet is actively involved in the regional newspaper industry at local, state and national organisation levels.

OAM honour for prominent Gunnedah citizen

Gae Swain OAM.

One of Gunnedah’s most prominent and accomplished residents, Gae Swain, is a recipient of the Medal of the Order of Australia, OAM in the Kings Birthday Honours ‘for service to local government and to the community of Gunnedah.’

Mrs Swain has a long record of engagement and contribution to the Gunnedah community at several levels, through local government, church and community organisations.

“I don’t see this as an award to one person I see it as an award to the team, the team being Gunnedah” she said.
