The Narrabri Blue Boars’ ladies’ day event at Dangar Park on Saturday was well-attended by supporters from both Narrabri and Gunnedah.
Rugby union fans were treated to three games on the day between the Blue Boars and the Gunnedah Red Devils.
Narrabri Rugby Club was hosting its annual event in round nine of the 2023 Central North Rugby Union season.
The aim of hosting a ladies’ day for all rugby clubs across the region is to allow the clubs to celebrate women, both past and present, who have helped to shape their local clubs into the success they are today.
Formerly in administrative roles, the past few years have seen the emerging growth of women’s teams, giving rugby union an inclusive female presence.
Mick Coffey, Narrabri Rugby Club’s president and women’s team co-coach, said that he was thrilled with the ladies’ day event.
“It was a huge success,” he said.
“The function was great and we had lots of good feedback that we got the balance right, with it being a really enjoyable function but not at all over the top.
“There was good food and good drinks, the ladies dressed up, and the decorations set it off.
“Everyone there really enjoyed themselves.
“The band was unreal too. Wait For Green was amazing for young kids. I think their booking sheet will fill up really quick. Everyone was absolutely raving about them.”
