The Group 4 Rugby League regular season came to an end on Sunday as the 14th and final round wrapped up in Werris Creek, where the Magpies downed Narrabri Blues in all grades.

The first grade games were won by North Tamworth Bears, Boggabri Kangaroos, Werris Creek Magpies and the Kootingal-Moonbi Roosters.

The Bears won 50-32 away against Moree Boars, Boggabri reclaimed the Boyde Campbell Cup when it beat the Gunnedah Bulldogs 52-12 on the road, the Roosters prevailed 19-12 against the Dungowan Cowboys at home, and the Magpies edged out Narrabri Blues 30-26, also at home.

In Gunnedah on Saturday, the hosts also won the reserve grade and ladies league tag matches.

The Bulldogs beat Boggabri 36-16 in reserve grade and 32-0 in league tag.

In Moree, the hosts wrapped up the minor premiership with a 24-16 win over the Bears in reserve grade, but they had a bye in under-18s and lost the ladies league tag match 44-4.

In Kootingal, the hosts lost 38-16 against Dungowan in reserve grade and 30-22 in under-18s, but kicked off the day with a 16-14 win in ladies league tag.

In the only fixtures that were played on Sunday, Werris Creek downed the Blues 26-20 in reserve grade and 50-6 in ladies league tag ahead of the first grade game.

Narrabri’s under-18s side forfeited against Werris Creek in round 14.

Group 4 Rugby League will now host a three-week finals series, with the grand final to be contested later this month on Saturday, August 19.

The major semi-finals will be played at Moree’s Boughton Oval on Saturday between the sides that finished first and second, and then the minor semi-finals will be contested on Sunday at Kootingal Sports Ground between the teams that placed third and fourth.

The winner of the major semi-finals will go through to the grand finals, and the losers will have a second chance when they play the winners of the minor semi-finals in the preliminary finals on Saturday, August 12.

The loser of the first grade major semi-final will host the preliminary finals, and the winner will host grand final day.
