The second round of Narrabri Touch’s men’s and ladies’ competitions was contested at Hogan Oval and Leitch Oval on Monday evening as the teams have begun to find their feet in the new campaign.
The ladies’ games were won by SPA Redbacks, Specialised Quarries and Concrete, Twisted Blisters and CBRE, who all scored comfortable shutout victories.
Specialised Quarries and Concrete scored the biggest win of the week as they prevailed 15-0 against Touch ‘n’ Go, while CBRE downed Hounddogs 6-0, the Redbacks beat Bluebirds 8-0, and Twisted Blisters defeated Wilga Westies 13-0.
Specialised Quarries and Concrete, Twisted Blisters and SPA Redbacks have all kick-started the campaign with two wins from as many matches, while CBRE’s win was its first after it went down in round one.
The Hounddogs are also on one win after two weeks of play after they were victorious in round one, while Wilga Westies, Bluebirds and Touch ‘n’ Go are yet to win this season.
The men’s competition round two winners were Grumley Builders, Gee Bangers, Ballbusters, Namoi Brothers and Lations.
Grumley Builders edged out Wilga Pelicans 5-4 in the closest game of the night, Lations outscored Win Or Booze 5-3 in another close game, and Ballbusters beat NFC 8-3.
Gee Bangers and Namoi Brothers were winners by forfeit against Cougars and DTA Timber Lumberjacks, respectively.
Just two of the eight men’s comp teams have started their campaign off with two wins from as many games, which include last year’s A-grade grand finalists Grumley Builders and Lations.
Namoi Brothers, Ballbusters, Win Or Booze, Wilga Pelicans, NFC and Gee Bangers have all won once each, whether that be on-field or by forfeit, while DTA Timber Lumberjacks and Cougars are both winless so far after two rounds.
