Narrabri Touch hosted round three of its 2023 season two campaign on Monday as all scheduled games went ahead for the first time at Hogan Oval and Leitch Oval after a few forfeits decided matches during the first two rounds.
Wilga Pelicans, Lations, Cougars, NFC and Grumley Builders, were the round three men’s comp winners, while Twisted Blisters, Bluebirds and Specialised Quarries and Concrete scored wins in the ladies’ comp to go with the first draw of the season.
In the men’s comp, 2022 season A-grade grand final teams Grumley Builders and Lations extended their winning runs to three games to start this year’s campaign in style.
Lations are still on top of the table after the 2022 runners-up downed the Namoi Brothers 12-4, while the Grumley Builders remained second after the defending champions outscored Gee Bangers 8-2.
Wilga Pelicans and NFC finished the evening ranked second and third, respectively, after they became the only two sides to have won twice in 2023.
The Pelicans beat Ballbusters 8-4, and NFC edged out DTA Timber Lumberjacks 5-3.
The other match was won 5-3 by Cougars, which were victorious for the first time this season.
Ranked fifth to ninth, respectively, having all won once across the first three rounds of the season, are Win Or Booze, Ballbusters, Gee Bangers, Cougars and Namoi Brothers, and in last place without a win are the DTA Timber Lumberjacks.
In the ladies’ competition, three teams went into round three having won their previous two matches, and two of those teams met one another as Twisted Blisters and SPA Redbacks went head-to-head.
Twisted Blisters won that match 5-1 to stay in second place on the ladder as the Redbacks remained in the third spot.
Still on top of the ladder and still undefeated are Specialised Quarries and Concrete following their 6-0 win against CBRE.
The other round three winners were Bluebirds, which downed Hounddogs 8-0 as they earned their first win of the year, and the other match was a 2-all draw between Wilga Westies and Touch ‘n’ Go.
Ranked fourth to sixth, respectively, following one victory in the opening three games are CBRE, Bluebirds and Hounddogs, while Touch ‘n’ Go and Wilga Westies are seventh on eighth following a draw and two losses each.
