Nurruby Children’s Services has a new offshoot, bringing much sought after relief to working parents in the Narrabri Shire.
A shortfall of childcare has been keenly felt in the district for some time and the recently opened facility will go some way to help alleviate the conspicuous gap in community services.
Named NNOOSH (Nurruby Narrabri OOSH) the childcare centre, catering for children from 5-12 years, operates from the school hall located at Narrabri Public School.
Open to enrolments from all three Narrabri primary schools, the business will be operating on school days from 6.30am to 9am, and from 3pm through to 6pm.
Full-day vacation care will also be offered during school holidays, running from 7:30am to 5:30pm
In recent months the deficit in childcare access in the shire has been in focus with the Narrabri Shire Council.
Looking at childcare shortage and investigating how to improve the situation is paramount with economic growth, employment, and population figures increasing steadily and unlikely to regress.
Director of NNOOSH, Hannah Browning, said “There was a definite need for our service in the community. We have some fantastic families from all schools and are looking forward to welcoming more.”
