There were five matches contested at Narrabri Bowling Club last week, two of which were competition games.
The first was played on Wednesday, when Lorraine Scott downed Rhonda Fitzgerald 25-4 to cruise into Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club’s singles semi-finals.
A Narrabri Bowling Club men’s pairs match was then played on Saturday, which saw Anthony Welchman and Bill Rosewarn beat Steve Daskey and Len Ryan 19-13.
That match was close for almost the entire 21 ends. The teams were level at 2-all after three ends, 4-all after six ends, 10-all after 15 ends and 13-all after 18 ends.
However, Welchman and Rosewarn managed to keep Daskey and Ryan scoreless across the final three ends as they piled on six shots of their own to win 19-13.
There were three social games played at the club on Thursday.
In three-bowl triples, Janice Foxe, Glennis Godden and Kay Carolan beat Trish Allison, Janet Coleman and Lyn Wedesweiler 18-16, while Carol Demamiel, Olwyn Campey and Lyn Tuckey downed Rhonda Fitzgerald, Ronnie Dewar and Doug Mackereth 26-13.
In three-bowl pairs, Di Chessells could do no wrong, and with teammate Gloria Campey, who played just as well, they defeated Marie Redman, Yvonne Hardman 26-4.
“Well played to Di and Gloria,” said Redman.
There will be one ladies’ club singles semi-final to be played this Thursday, September 28, as Lorraine Scott goes head-to-head with Kay Carolan.
Ronnie Dewar will be the marker of that game.
Helen Woodward is also through to the semi-finals and will take on the winner of the last quarter-final match between Ronnie Dewar and Lisa Pillar
Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club’s 2023/24 season club fours comp will get underway after the long weekend on Thursday, October 5.
Carol Demamiel, Janice Foxe, Di Chessells and Yvonne Hardman will take on Trish Allison, Gloria Campey, Berice Eather and Kay Carolan in the opening round.
