How did it feel for Bridge Medical Centre to receive this award?

“We’re so proud and so humbled to be recognised for our hard work. This award will boost the spirits of our staff and encourage them to continue providing the great service we have been recognised for. Doctor Rohana and Doctor Dilini have put a lot into the business over the last four years, after taking over from Doctor Kerry Moroney as new owners and it’s a great recognition of their efforts, their professionalism, and what they are putting back into the town.

What does it mean to Bridge Medical to be providing such an incremental service to the Narrabri community?

“It’s amazing, everyone knows us, and we know everybody. It’s a nice touch to know that you’re not a nobody like in a major centre.

“It’s a real country town feeling that everyone gets in and helps everyone else, and this is just our way of helping the community.”

What does general practice mean to a rural community?

“General practice means that you can get seen at a base level.

“We cover everything from broken toenails right through to the cancers and the end of life and everything in between, unlike city practices.

“It’s immensely important to have a general practice in a country town, we service not only Narrabri but have patients from Wee Waa, Walgett, Burren Junction, and further out west, so it’s good to keep those services local.”

What makes you the best medical practice?

“We have a great team of doctors, nurses and administration staff. Everybody works together to provide the best services to our patients. This award is recognition of our whole team and their efforts.

“When we came here in 2019, we had two doctors and three receptionists, and now we’ve got four doctors and five nurses and six admin staff.

“We have expanded into many areas such as cosmetics, pre/post-employment medicals, the only specialised skin nurse in town, and a specialised skin doctor and surgeon.

“It’s hard work and it takes a lot, but the team pulls together.”
