Narrabri Shire shoppers will have the chance to share in $7000 of prizes after The Courier, Wee Waa News and North Western Guide’s ‘Have a Cracker of a Christmas – Shop with our Shire Superstars’ Christmas promotion officially started this week.
This year’s initiative features 21 outlets from Narrabri, Boggabri and Wee Waa.
The prizes will be in the form of shopping vouchers to be spent at participating stores and in cash for businesses which sell winning tickets.
As added incentives for the participating businesses, new artwork will feature on the billboard at the Paradise Fresh/Thai Home car park on Dangar Street, to encourage shire residents to shop locally this Christmas.
Community radio station 2MaxFM will be broadcasting the benefits of shopping with the participating businesses.
The Courier’s general manager Dylan Smith said it was more important than ever to shop locally in the shire with local businesses feeling the impacts of increasing costs.
“Everything we could possibly need is here in Narrabri Shire, and The Courier encourages people to look to our local businesses when it comes to Christmas shopping,” he said.
“While our Christmas promotion is primarily targeted at festive shopping, it’s important to remember that supporting shire businesses should happen all year.”

The shopping promotion will run for 10 weeks, with prizes to be drawn at the Narrabri and District Chamber of Commerce Christmas Street Carnival on Friday, December 15.
