For the third time in six years, Trinity Kelly is Narrabri Bowling Club’s men’s major singles champion following two victories over Dewar brothers Scott and David on Saturday at the John McNamara Owen Campey Green.

Kelly took on Scott Dewar in their semi-final clash on Saturday morning for the chance to advance to the final where Scott’s brother Dave was ready and waiting.

Kelly cruised through the semi-final quite comfortable as he scored a 25-7 win over Scott.

Dewar started the match on the front foot as he won the first end to set up a 1-0 lead, and then won ends three, four and five to make the score 4-1.

However, Kelly went on a dominant 13-end run to pile on 22 points and establish a 23 shots to four lead after 18 ends of play.

Dewar took the next two ends by a combined three shots to nothing, but Kelly then scored a two on the 21st end to win the match 25-7.

That saw him get the chance to play for his third title in six years after he won it in 2018 and 2020, and also had a chance in 2021 when he went down 31-30 in the final against champion Norm Walford.

In this year’s decider, Kelly trailed 2-0 after Dave Dewar scored a four on the first end, but he claimed the next four straight ends to go ahead 6-2.

Dewar hit back with a pair of twos to level the score up at 6-all after seven ends, but Kelly then retook the lead and would not surrender it again.

He scored a two on the eighth and a three on the ninth to lead 11-6, and he was in front by five again after 18 ends as he led 18-13.

The two bowlers then scored three shots each across the following four ends as Kelly led 21-16 after 22, and Dewar managed a shot on the 23rd to edge closer and make the score 21-17.

However, his comeback attempt fell short as Kelly scored a two on the 24th end and another on the 25th to win the contest 25-17.
