Thirty-one dedicated local athletes recently wrapped up their 2023 winter season with Narrabri Little Athletics.
The group, ranging in age from 4-17-years-old spent the season refining their skills in sprints, middle distance and field events including shot put, discus, javelin, long jump, high jump and triple jump.
All participants made great progress during their season with a total of 328 personal best results achieved, which is quite outstanding for such a small group of athletes.
Club records were broken by five athletes during the season.
Caitlin Evans broke six records across both track and field events, Sofia Kneller broke shotput records on two occasions, Audrey Towner and Audrey Cooper both broke records in shot put and 800 metres, respectively, and the last record of the season went to Nyah McConnell in the under-7 girls 100 metres.
The Narrabri Little Athletics club is very fortunate to have the use of the Narrabri High School grounds for their weekly competition and thanks the high school and its groundsman Steve Duncan for the use of such a wonderful facility.
Several athletes will now test their skills at the upcoming New England Zone Championships, to be held in Gunnedah on Saturday, November 25, where they will compete for the opportunity to progress to the Region and State Championships in the New Year.
