A new committee is at the helm of the Narrabri Jockey Club and is ready to bring new life and fresh ideas to the racing organisation.
The immediate attention turns to the club’s traditional annual race meeting to be held on March 23 next year.
The race meeting is a much-loved fixture on the district calendar and the refreshed committee is encouraging members and the broader community to support the race day.
New president Will Childs has thanked outgoing executive members for their time and dedication following the election of new office bearers.
Mr Childs particularly thanked former president Bob Percival, a jockey club stalwart and life member whose service has spanned decades.
“We thank him for his ongoing support,” he said.
Joining Mr Childs as executive members on the committee are Geoff Artis as vice president, Brett Allison as treasurer, Cathy Redding as secretary and Nikki Shields as assistant secretary.
Mr Childs said the new committee was excited to take the club into the future.
“This iconic race meeting makes the community resilient,” he said.
The race meeting brings with it a welcome injection of money into the local community, something the new committee will keep in mind.
“We have a committee that is proactive,” Mr Childs said. “We want to build a community within the committee.”
Mr Childs has encouraged potential members to join the organisation.
