Gun Boggabri golfers Kathy Davis and Gwen Hardy are set to take on some of the best golfers that NSW has to offer later this month at the Keno Let’s Play Ambrose state final.
The Keno Let’s Play Ambrose is a two-person ambrose event aimed at club golfers that encourages them to enjoy the fun aspects of golf.
The winning men’s, ladies’ and mixed teams of each club’s qualifying round advanced to the regional finals late last month.
Davis and Hardy not only advanced to the regional finals but also returned home as winners as they prevailed in the regional final that was played at the Longyard Golf Club in Tamworth on Sunday October 22.
The pair competed in strong, windy conditions and won the regional two-person ambrose event with an 85 nett 67.5.
The winners of the men’s division of the regional final at Longyard were John Dawson and Steven Jones from the host club, and the winners of the mixed division were Sean Wilson and Prunella Newby of Glen Innes.
Golf NSW managed the 13 regional finals held in NSW metropolitan and regional areas.
The state finals are being staged at the beautiful Bonville Golf Resort in Coffs Harbour later this month from Sunday, November 26, to Wednesday, November 29.
The final will be conducted over two rounds of 18-holes.
Scoring for each round will be based on teams’ ranking for that round, such that the nett winner of the round will receive one point, the nett second place team will received two points, the nett third place team will receive three points and so on.
The winner of the state final will be the pairing with the lowest points across the two rounds.
