It was off to Baan Baa’s Railway Hotel for the next Probus luncheon, and a record turnout of 50 members hopped on a bus for an air-conditioned and leisurely ride in the countryside, before working up an appetite.
Probus Club president Stuart Barnes recollects one of his first Probus changeover meetings in the old Baan Baa Public School and coming over to the pub for lunch, but they haven’t been back since.
The lamb cutlets were a must and a crowd favourite, and a cool beer went down a real treat in the 37-degree heat.
As usual, there was plenty of cheeky jokes and an abundance of laughs to be had, which is the premise for all Probus Club adventures – where fun and friendship in retirement is always on the menu.
The kitchen and bar staff were also a delight, and will surely be seeing many Probus faces again soon.
